Evening all

Its been a while since I posted as Covid led us to sell our van unfortunately

So I feel a bit of a fraud coming back on here neither a tent or caravan in tow anymore

However you guys are the bastions of knowledge on all things campsites so I thought I'd throw this one out to you

We're looking to head back to France next summer along the West/South West coast and would be looking at sites now that have lodges/cottages along side camping such as we've seen in the past with Yelloh village...etc

We've stayed at many smaller sites but with a 11 and 13 yr old we're looking for slightly bigger sites like we've had with Yelloh village where they can go off and do their own thing maybe with other British children (but not necessarily)

Any suggestions for other campsites which would fit this bill ? On the beach would be ideal

If you like Yelloh Village sites stick with them. They will all have accommodation on site and there will be a variety of options . Look at their list and select the location you prefer . Then book on line.

Hi there, apologies but I have no recommendations for the southwest but have a couple for other areas. We stay in lodges or statics on site but generally smaller sites. Have a look at a website called Lefrenchtime, its where I have found a couple of sites. If you want to venture a bit further south I can highly recommend the place linked below, we are heading back again in 2023. It is ran by a scot and his french wife.

Quire a few in the Vendee if that's far south enough for you - we stayed at Camping Baie D'Aunis in La Tranche sur Mer which although the site itself is fairly quiet is next to the beach which has a fabulous watersports centre and there is an aquatic park 5 mins up the road.
A bit livelier is Jard Sur Mer where we had a drive around and there were lots of larger sites with water park type pools etc, or further west again but still in an area that gets lots of sun, St Jean de Monts

The Huttopia chain have chalets, roulottes and safari tents; they go for a back-to-nature vibe, usually plenty of roaming space for free range kids.

First of, don't feel like a fraud at all, I've been through small tents, big tents, folding campers, caravans and mobile home rentals, we use whatever is appropriate at the current stage and circumstance we find ourselves in.
Second, do you count mobile homes as "lodges/cottages" ? If you do, you're in luck, most French sites rent out mobile homes.
As for actual recommendations, we've had good stays in both Les Pirons in the Vendee and Ur Onea in the Basque region near the Spanish Border , but they are everywhere.
