Hi, after some recommendations for a sites in the dordogne and vendee, would require a swimming pool and with a short walk to a town/village with bars/restaurants etc.
Thanks in advance.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Yorkslee - Impossible to answer without knowing the size and style of site and range of on site activities you want - and my choice might not be yours - but my go to sites would be…
Dordogne- Camping Bouyssou at Tursac because it’s small with just 25 pitches and away from the madding hordes by the river. .
Coastal but south of the boring Vendee - Camping Beausoleil at La Palmyre. A rarity in being in a village centre
Both have pools and both have reviews on here and elsewhere.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Le Capeyrou in Beynac is a smaller, quieter site. It has a swimming pool, food trucks every evening and a bar. It's at the edge of the village and has a lovely boulangerie just across the road. Right next to the Dordogne so great for kayaking etc.
Les 2 Vallees at Vezac is about 10 mins walk from Le Capeyrou above, but is away from the main road of the tourist hotspot of Beynac (but also, therefore the river) and so less busy. It too has a swimming pool, also a bar/restaurant and a little grocery shop.
I think basically you are spoilt for choice in this area.
Vendee- Camping le jard is lovely, great pool, bar and restaurant. Short walk to the beach. Again a short walk to an area with a few bars, restaurants and a small fun fair. When we went there was also a free bus in high season to La tranche sur mer.
We loved Camping Port de Limeuil - 10 mins walk across the Dordogne river bridge to the village which has bars, cafes and restaurants, although the site has a very nice bar and snack bar too.it’s right on the river with stunning views and a kayak base next door, but has a laid back family vibe with a lovely pool.
In the Vendee we stayed at Camping Baie d’Aunis which is a smallish site with a simple pool etc, but 10 mins walk from La Tranche sur Mer and right next to the beach which also has a good water sports centre.
