Hi. What a great idea! We have done it with our caravan and have travelled extensively throughout the country.
One thing that we found to be a great help was the PFCC website and their extremely useful map of locations:
Polish Camping Federation
A bargain for €10 delivered! One route took us up to the Masurian Lakes across to the 3 cities Gdansk/Sopot/Gardinia that have the the best museums I have ever visited. We then went to the beautiful sand-duned Baltic Coast and stayed in almost deserted sites as this was early June and pre-season. The roads are extremely good and under massive continuing improvement.
We pre-booked one site in Sopot as we met friends there that flew in to meet us. We only found one site full but this was because of a music festival in the nearby city of Olstyn.
The PFCC website is really worth exploring. Hope this helps- I now want to go again!

We went with a frame tent on our honeymoon 33 years ago the year after the Berlin Wall had come down. My wife had Polish parents and spoke the language but had never been able to go. We did a tour of the country and visited a couple of sets of relatives on the way. We camped at Jelitkowo between Sopot and Gdansk which was a nice site just a stroll from the Baltic and an easy drive into Gdansk which is a great place to visit. Looking at Google there are a lot more sites to choose from now in the area.
We then spent three nights in Warsaw in a city campsite not far from the Peoples Palace. We were a bit put off by the high wire fence all round and even more by the security guard walking round with a gun on his hip. I think it has calmed down a bit since and we've never had any trouble on our many trips to Poland since. Again Warsaw is a must for the Old Town (Stare Miasto in Polish - there's one in every town and usually worth a visit if only for the restaurants and bars), the Lazienki Park and Wilanow Palace. To be honest, it's our least favourite Polish city but that's just personal opinion.
We visited some family in Bilgoraj in the east which, as has rightly been said above is a bit problematical at the moment being close to the Ukranian border. It's a shame as the area is not visited much but has some beautiful forests and the Roztocze National Park. We didn't camp though as we stayed with relatives.
We then camped in what became our favourite city, Krakow - at the time the only place we found that anyone spoke English but it is much better now. Krakow is a must, the Cloth Market and area, the churches, Wawel Cathdral and castle, the Jewish quarter - all beautiful.
We went to another set of relatives between Poznan and Wroclaw, both well worth a visit. On subsequent trips we have been to the Mazurian Lakes which are exquisite, the Tatra mountains (Zakopane was an early destination for English tourists), the Karkonosze mountaing near the Czech border and countless beautiful castles, mansions, lakes, rivers etc.
The main roads into big cities have improved beyond recognition in that time with many connected by fast motorways. If you come off the main routes though, you will still find some places where the road is cobbled. They are fairly hot on speeding and it is easy to miss the sign which tells you you are going into a village so you have to slow down from 90 to 60 Kph . There used to be a saying that in England they drive on the left, in other countries they drive on the right but in Poland they drive wherever the hell they want but it has improved a lot - or maybe I'm just inured to it now.
In any case go, it's a wonderful country. We haven't camped there since our honeymoon because we found that the hotels were cheap for us and we mainly were visiting relatives but the infrastructure has improved massively and there are a lot of German and Dutch people who holiday there and lots of them go in caravans and motorhomes.
------------- A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools
