Sorry for yet another pet passport question. In this case the dog is a rescue dog from Serbia and has an EU passport. Her rabies vaccination will be on a separate vaccination certificate issued by a UK vet. Is this acceptable for travel on the tunnel or will she need an Animal Health Certificate?

I vaguely remember reading something about having to travel to Europe to have the annual rabies booster administered by an EU vet as UK vets can no longer sign an EU pet passport as their professional qualification is no longer recognised.
However, I could be wrong.

Hi there. We have 2 Romanian rescue dogs with EU passports that have travelled abroad (and back) on them 3 times now.
If the rabies vaccination in your dog’s EU passport has expired, then she will not be able to travel on it and will need an Animal Health Certificate. Since December 31st 2020 (when the U.K. finally left the EU at the end of the extension period) a rabies vaccination given by a U.K. vet is not valid for the EU passport. To keep our dogs’ passports valid we get their rabies boosters done by the French vet we usually use before returning to the U.K.

Thanks for your replies. Our vet has just confirmed that, as mentioned above, the vaccination given here will not be valid in EU so the AHC will be needed.
