We are currently in the Netherlands near Maastricht and thinking of heading to Luxembourg. We enjoy cycling and visiting nice villages/small towns. Thinking of maybe staying near the German or Belgian border to allow us to visit places there too. I’ve read through posts and site reviews on here although I can’t find anything recent. Any suggestions of an area to base ourselves and/or sites (don’t need lots of amenities eg pool, bar etc) would be welcomed.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
There are 2 nice sites at Diekirch, next to each other. A short walk into town and miles of walking cycling paths along the river.
You can get the train into Luxembourg city from Diekirch. There are restaurants and a supermarket in town. One of the sites has a bar restaurant behind it.

I stayed at Trier last yr and caught the train into Luxembourg, Heaps of good stuff to see in Trier. Campsite right on river, facilities are spotless. you will need to book in advance as a popular Joint
Saarburg in the German Moselle area is only about 45km from Luxembourg City, its a nice town, near Trier too, with some good sites. We stayed in Landal Warsberg above the town and thought it was great, others are equally enthusiastic about the other sites on the river.
We’re at Camping Gritt, Ingeldorf. Lovely quiet site next to the river. Lots of cycle paths along the river. Station nearby for free train into Luxembourg. Patton Museum nearby.
