Looking for recomendations for sites for two 26 year olds travelling from Marsielle to Genoa in a VW campervan. We would like to visit Nice and Monaco along the way. Dates 11th to 21st September. Any help would be great.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
There is a train line along the coast that certainly goes through Antibes, Nice, Monaco and to Ventimiglia, or it used to. So the easiest way to visit those 2 places may be to camp where you can walk to a station on the route and go on the train. We have done this over the years.
The campsite we always used appears to be closed at the moment, but there are a number not too far from the station at Biot (the station is on the coast, the village is up in the hills inland).
Those dates in Sept will be in the ACSI discount season, so if you buy the book and card, choose a site from the book, you will get the discount. Not a huge number in that area though.
I've had a look on here for sites, and have seen one that we thought we might try next time we're down there, Camping Hippodrome at Villeneuve Loubet. We cycled round to check it out, it's not far from Cagnes sur Mer promenade which is lovely. The review on here sounds good, though I don't know what the price is.
It's also very close to a superb supermarket, Geant, which has amazing aircon.....
If you are talking about September this year bear in mind that between 16 - 24 th the stade de Nice is hosting matches in the rugby World Cup involving teams from Wales, England, Italy and Scotland amongst others so the area is likely to be busier than usual at that time of year

Great campsite at Vallecrosia which is 20 min walk from Ventimiglia. Where you can catch a train to The places you have mentioned. It's called camping Vallecrosia and its right on a beach. It's a great place, i stayed there for 6 nights last yr. and was superb. Also, For visiting Genoa I stayed at Caravan Park The Vesima, ignore the reviews as it's a fantastic place and owners great. Bus stops at front gate and you can walk to a fab little village of Arenzano. Great Bar on the Ocean with Fab views.
Hi, thanks for the replies, they are attending a couple of the Rugby matches but also having two weeks in a campervan, so any recommendations would be appreciated.
If you want a night or two between the France / Italy border and Genoa I can recommend camping Bella Vista at Ceriale, just inland from the Italian Riviera, handy for motorway.
