I'm travelling to the southern end of France near Argeles next week. Will be travelling through the Netherlands and Belgium before hitting France. Just wondering if anyone over there at the moment can give me a rough idea of diesel prices.
Don't know if it's relevant but car will go over 600 miles between fill ups.
I could also fill up before I leave at £1.42 a litre.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

A colleague of mine got back from France last week, he said that diesel was slightly more expensive in France compared to the UK (a departure from the expected normal). That chimes with my experience earlier in May.
The first post on page 5 of this thread quotes diesel at €1.65 per litre the same day I paid £1.45 per litre in the UK, even taking the exchange rate into account I'd say that still makes France slightly more expensive than the UK.
The link posted by Jaiash above will give you an idea of how much fuel is along your route.
The cheapest we've got was 159.9 at SuperU in Marans, Green Venice. Before that we've paid 169.9 and 165.9 from Calais area down to Loire area. For us price seemed to come down the further south we went 😉 but that is probably coincidence 😕

Looks like it may be an idea to fill up before I leave. Thanks for all the replies.
Having converted the price per litre we paid (159.9) it converts to £1.37 (xe.com). In your OP you quoted it would cost you £1.42 to fill up in UK. Even at £1.65, which is the price here in some of the areas we've been to, that's £1.41, so not really worth it, unless of course you need the fuel to get to the port you're travelling from.

Don't need to fill up to get to the port as it's only about a dozen miles away. However it docks at Ijmunden and I've got a bit of a drive for the first stop. I will be easily able to do this drive to the first stopper without topping up.
We've found prices are much the same for diesel (B7), at €1.638 im Guines (Carrefour); €1.667 in the Vendée (Hyper U) and €1.649 in the Dordogne (Intermarché). We've seen it more expensive on our travels so just stick to bigger supermarkets to fill up.

What kind of car do you drive. Getting over a 1000km to a tank is Great
Mick, I know I'm not the person you asked the question to, but we get over 650 miles to a 70 litre tank of fuel - 2012 2.0 TDCi Zetec Mondeo estate (Turbo-diesel, regularly serviced and oil-changed). (Euro 5 - France Crit-air 2). We've had it since 2012 and are reluctant to change it because it is so economical. Our usual mpg is around 42/43 and sometimes much more on 'sedate' trips. It's a good tow car, and the mpg when towing is also good.

It’s aTiguan Allspace. Although a big car it has been showing over 50mpg on the longer runs in France and in the high 40s when not on the motorway.
