We have travelled through France to Spain in Dec. We catch the Portsmouth to Caen overnight ferry, then go to La Futuriste in Poitiers about 4.5hrs. The next day is a 6hr trip to La Rouletta at Urrugne. From there it’s to Zaragoza via the N121a, A15, A68. It is then a 4hr trip to Benicassim.

That’s a direct route. It’s about 1100 miles down to Malaga from Caen, so 4 days driving to get there and 4 days back. Other routes from Calais are possible but further.
But with EasyJet return flights from Gatwick to Malaga priced amazingly cheaply at £50 return at that time of year I myself would fly and rent accommodation rather than drive and tow.
Last time we went we used the tunnel stopping at Camping Les Acacias, Tours then Camping Beausoleil, Gradigan then Camping La Larrouleta, Urrugne then into Spain and Camping Olimpia, Near Salamanca then Camping Casares, Caracas then onto Camping La Bella Vista in Manilva.
We have also stayed at Camping Fuentes Blancas in Burgos when using the ferry to Spain.
