That’s a “piece of string” question, way too broad. Ferry advice? Dog stuff? Best areas in France for bicycles? Can you park overnight for free? Etc….
Get yourself a cup of tea or coffee & look through the “camping & caravanning abroad” forum. Plenty of advice & info there.
+1 for following Fiona's advice.
I was a seasoned driver in the EU in a right hand drive car.
When I went camping with the dog in my own van, the driving part was straight forward.
However, Eurotunnel/Le Shuttle had changed quite a bit since I last went over to France in a car.
Also, my trip to France in May 2023 this year was the first time post-Brexit trip and the first time with a dog, so all those were new to me.
Remember to look for a vet near the campsite where you are staying, and plan to have the worm treatment administered by the vet at least 24h before your scheduled crossing back to UK. I nearly fell foul with that one due to a French public holiday on the day I intended to take the dog to the vets.
So do check for French or other EU country's public holidays as well as part of your planning process.
