We have a weeks holiday from work from next Tuesday, and haven’t booked anywhere yet. We’ve been hoping for better weather but it’s changing daily.

Does anyone think it’s possible to go Dover to Calais and get a site within an hour of Calais, or is a week not long enough for this? Don’t want to be shattered going back to work.

Also, is there anything else we’d need to sort, apart from the ferry and the site?

Never done France in caravan before, and very last minute thinking

Thankyou

If your passports are valid and if you have compulsory insurance for car ( and optional insurance for other things), and provided you are not taking a dog — them your plan is easily possible.

As school holidays are coming to an end you should be OK. For example La Bien Assise or Chateau Grandspette are 2 big Les Castels sites not far from the port and should have space. Both have good facilities.
Le Grand Gravelot in Calais itself is nice, reviews of all 3 are on here.

Whilst Not France, We have stayed at Camping Green Park, De Panne

This is in De Panne, Just accross the Boarder, probably 45 mins from Calais. It is 5/10 Minute walk from the Beach / Town Centre. Plenty of choices to eat or drink, Plopsaland water park is a short walk away, and you get the tram all the way along the cost to the Dutch boarder.

Very good for easy cycling.

We did not book, we just turned up, and have always got a pitch, on one occasion we were advised it was the last pitch though. (in High season)
