A holiday with a difference for 2024. Italy is nothing new for us but residing in a 'bungalow' is. We've booked a bungalow at Nanzel. A fabulous view of the lake from an elevated location. We'll be 200yds from the lake edge so the paddle boards will be packed.
Imagine not caring if it rains, having to dry out a tent.
The plan is to divide our time between 'paddling' and hiking ( the alps are not far). I would also like to explore the environs of Monte Baldo and visit Le Corona del Madonna, a church nestling into the rocks.
We're travelling mid July which is another first.
Very different. It'll be the first road trip without a tent in 28yrs!!

At least we'll be on a campsite and enjoy the location, but won't have concerns about the weather, get to sleep on a luxurious double bed for the duration, have our own bathroom.
Looking forwards to Italy so much.

Well I hope so. I was unwell last year. I was diagnosed with a heart condition as result of a vaccine. The camping was just too much last summer. It was a combination of the extreme heat and me overdoing it.

Ferry sorted...as expected it was expensive, but worth the comfort of booking a Club Class Cabin and securing meals in the restaurant.
It's a good start to 2.5 weeks in Italy

Whatever you do, enjoy!

Same as we did for a number of years in France when our lads were in their teens and we just didn't have room for all 4 of us in the car plus camping gear etc - even in an estate with a roof rack.

For the last 5 years in France and Italy me and my dearest have gone back to using them - getting a bit too old for tenting - and outside July and first 3 weeks in August prices usually very reasonable.

DK the 'bungalow' is on the Nanzel campsite, Limone Sul Garda.
They have 3 bungalows to rent.
This way they accommodate tents, motorhomes and caravans, enabling families to gather. Nanzel is one of those family run sites that people return to from childhood. Sometimes you see 3 generations enjoying a vacation together which is lovely to see.

Did that back in 2000 in the Dordogne - last week in May / first week in June we rented 3 mobile homes (cost not a deal more than £600 for all 3) on the Moulin de Paulhiac site near Daglan, about 10 miles south of Sarlat. Me and Sue and 2 kids, her sister, husband and two kids and Sue / sisters parents. Most enjoyable family holiday ever.

Having a relatively recently diagnosed heart condition, and my 'near miss' whilst in France. Renting a bungalow seems a sensible option.
In 32years of marriage this will be our first holiday without a tent.
Let's hope we can return to camping when my condition is more stable

Fingers firmly crossed for you to be able to return to camping in a tent.

I decided to switch to a tin tent when I realised I no longer enjoyed the time and efforts required to set up a tent. Much happier going out and about in my van nowadays.

Well it's a year in April since I was rushed in. Silly me thought it was indigestion from too much coffee the day before, plus a relatively stressful time at work.
It was a reality check, so I was happy for my contract to come to an end and now take on assignment s very carefully. I'm currently enjoying a 'sabbatical'.
I'll never do the hotel with a pool thing, it would be hell for me. I need to be outdoors ( cycling, kayaking, paddling SUP). At least on a campsite the people you meet are like minded.
I have learned to 'read' the signals when I need to ease off. A clean diet and no alcohol keep me stable and in control 🙀🏃‍♀️🚲

You're lucky you can still do all those things, when it's a struggle to pitch a tent.

We find pitching tents becomes more of a chore, year-on-year, and striking pitch is worse still. We've had an easy couple of years with an easy-pitch trailer tent but don't want to tow at all this year, so it's back to more basic camping for us. We still love camping and being in the outdoors.
