I am sure I have seen this topic in this forum but a search did not reveal it.
We are contemplating storing our caravan in France next season. What are the insurance requirements/implications?

Towergate are the only insurers we have found who will insure a van stored abroad. They will need to know the full details of where you intend to store, and to be accepted by their underwriters you will need to answer questions regarding security - whether the storage area is enclosed by a fence, hedges, trees etc, whether it has a locked gate/entrance, how many other vans are stored there (I think they want 20+), whether there is CCTV and/or security lighting, whether there is a warden living on site. They will no longer insure vans in storage on a working farm, unfortunately.

I stored for years in France and never had a problem with insurance. France has gipsies who don't cause problems. They do not suffer from the "travellers" as we do so caravan thefts are rare. I did hear that you can insure via French Insurance Brokers for a lower cost than you pay here if you have any difficulties.

I'm not sure what search criteria you used, but here are the results using 'Storage' and 'Forever'. Quite a few to read through, many of which I may have contributed to as we have stored in France for a lot of years (and still do). We insure with Towergate, and have done since the beginning, and our last renewal was in September 2023 when we had to move the caravan, but their underwriters agreed to insure us again.
