Just a heads up for anyone heading here in the evening. When we came here 3 weeks ago to spend the night, we found the building was locked up at 10 pm, so no access to the toilets there. Didn’t find any others open on the Aire either. Wasn’t a problem as we had arrived earlier, but OH had gone to brush his teeth just after 10 and found them locked.
It was extremely quiet, 3 of us on the caravan area, and none on the car. Just a few calling in on the main area. It’s usually packed.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Were you on the section around the back with the picnic tables? We go over 3 times a year and always spend our first night there after landing at Calais and have never found it particularly busy there - - normally 5/6 MHs or caravans. We were last there on 2nd May and I don`t know what time the building closed at night but it was open at about 05.30 the next morning when we left.

A combination of increased tunnel prices so people more inclined to use say Newhaven - Dieppe, and the fairly foul weather so people inclined to head south rather than west or south west?

We used BdeS mid August most years from 2000 to 2014 although used to arrive about 7am having driven through the early hours down from Sheffield via the tunnel. Used to get my head down for an hour while me wife took the kids to the services and observation tower, then push on to the Loire. Always busy but never rammed - always able to park in the car section next to the vans / campers at the water side of the services.

Car only - no van.
