I have been told the two new boats that P and O have on the Dover -Calais route , (Liberte and Pioneer)have a ramp to take the Motorhomes Caravans and cars up on a higher deck than the Freight vehicles.

Has anyone grounded on the ramp to the deck on these two new boats ?

I have an Adria Matrix on a Mercedes /Alko base at 7.9m with a towbar. Semi Air is not available at the moment on my MH.

Don’t know if I should avoid these boats in case of grounding , I am currently booked on Liberte and not sure if I should change my booking ?

The older P&O ships also took MHs up a ramp so nothing has changed as far as I can see. The ramps on the new ships have a different surface than the old ones are more comfortable to drive up. I have had no problem driving up them. Both new ships are much quieter than the old, we came across in a real calm sea last week and it was hard to tell we were moving without looking out of the windows. On the upper decks there are also quiet lounges with reclining airline type seats, very comfortable.

Thanks Badger54
I was wondering more about how steep the angle at the foot of the ramp is for going on and off.
I have a fair overhang with a Towbar on the Motorhome .
For last 30 years I have been towing twin axle caravans and don’t recall ever being taken up a ramp ?
This is my first MH and only ever been on Eurotunnel with it , in the past .

It`s impossible to give you an accurate answer but plenty of MH`s, longer than my Adria 640, use the ramps.

Thanks Badger54, I have a new Matrix 670dc MB at 7.9 metres with a towbar.
I think I will change the booking to our end of August trip to South of France.
I should have air fitted by then to give a little extra clearance.
Will change and book this trip on Eurotunnel , to make sure I dont ground out or take the waste pipe off ?

I thought I would have air fitted by now , seems the chap at VB at the NEC show we spoke with, wasn't too accurate with his release date for the air on my model of MH.
I understand on the Fiat base it is , but on the
Mercedes /Alko base (which is a new model offering ) a semi air system for the rear still isnt available , the fitters dont even have a confirmed release date yet ?
I originally booked the ferry , on the assumption of what I was told by VB at the show .
