Most sites connect with the blue plug we use but at a few old fashioned sites you may need an adaptor. A caravan accessories shop can supply that before you go.

You will need a reverse polarity checker like the one below.

I have mad up a short lead about a foot long with one end having the live and neutral turned round.

I also have one of these.

Having these 2 simple leads, I’ve never having a problem connecting up in France or Spain.

I thought that reversed polarity had been abolished since we left the EU. British caravans are no longer afflicted by it these days.

I have never had a problem with reversed polarity in over 20years of touring France. All modern appliances tend to be double insulated anyway.

In theory there could be a problem so you may want to have a checker but it is,in my opinion,like wearing a hard hat in case a piece of satellite falls on you

Reverse polarity is only a problem if you mess about with anything plugged in or not isolated.

The site we are on has blue CEE sockets. They are live and neutral reversed. I am using our home made RP adaptor, but it Probably doesn't matter with a 2018 van.
I still have a CEE to old Schuko 2 pin socket connector.Its not been used for years.

Most French campsites have the UK style electricity points so just plug in as you would normally, but be aware that the supply may only be 6 or 10amp rather than the 16amp you may be used to.
A minority of sites have the old-style French 2 pin electricity points, in which case you would need an adapter (readily available online or from good accessory shops).
