We've never stayed further south in France with the caravan than the Bergerac area, but are hoping to venture a little further down (western side) now we are storing the van in the Loire. I'm thinking of the Lot et Garonne / Gers areas, but am unsure whether to go this year, late August/September or wait till May/June next year when it may be slightly cooler?
We'll have our 2 dogs with us, one getting on a bit now, so our holiday activities tend to be limited to gentle strolls through the countryside or by rivers/lakes and general sightseeing. Being able to walk the dogs directly from a site is a bonus.
We like to have a good boulangerie nearby (or a campsite bread service) and a supermarket or two within a few miles drive.
Any advice gratefully received, as it's an area I know nothing about.

It is set in a large country park, a lovely little town within wrinkly shuffling distance, a supermarket at the top of the road and, most
importantly a large wine supermarket nearby
A little bit to the east - otherside of the motorway - Have a look at Caylus. Camping La Bonnette nice little site with small bar and restaurant (open to locals too) and a pool. Village is close but up a steep hill. Lots of interesting places around with good markets. https://www.campingbonnette.com ACSI accepted.
There is a municipal site at Moissac, where the Tarn meets the Garonne that we really like. It has a pool, big pitches, and is right on the river across the bridge from the town. There is a good market in Moissac and a Lidl, and a couple of miles away there is a L`eclerc and an Intermarche. It is also on the canal so great for cycling.

We are going back in September and I sure hope it is better weather than it was when we were there in June.
Yes, the Moissac site was very wet when we were there some years back, but there had been lots of rain. We will be over there in Sept, but on the Provence side.
Hi,
Camping Le Soleil Des Bastides at Cahuzac sur Vere in the Tarn where we are sitting right now! One of our favourite places, small site with bar/restaurant/pool with wonderful owners & the most amazing farm shop right outside the gate!
