Cary and I are very excited as we have now arranged our holiday in Brittany. We are travelling from Plymouth to Roscoff overnight on 3/4th August. We are towing our outfit is VW Touareg and Buccaneer Commodore- so a VERY LARGE OUTFIT. We're spending most of holiday (5th-31st Augus) at Camping Du Letty in Benodet. Du Letty was our family's favourite holiday destination in the 90's and early 0's and we're meeting up with our 5 children and 6 grandchildren.

I'm asking for suggestions for a campsite from 4th/5th August near Roscoff, We have stayed at Camping Trologot in St Pol Leon a few years back but are, also, interested in nearby Camping Ar Klegeur. Accesibility for our large outfit is an important factor.

After our stay at Du Letty finishes on 31th August we are planning on spending a few nights in the St Malo area before catching the ferry to Portsmouth on the morning of 9th September We are looking for a pleasant site in a approx 20 mile radius of St Malo while we explore the area. Again accessibility to the site and finally travelling to the ferry are important.

All and any site recommendations gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation.

As you will be arriving in Roscoff early in the morning you probably need a campsite you can enter at that time so I suggest the former municipal site at Henvic village - now renamed Camping de Mon Village and operated by the Camping -Car Parking company. Entry is automated by card into machine - the procedure is explained on line - so arrival at breakfast time is not a problem. It’s a simple site by the village football field but is spacious so there are no difficult corners and it’s a simple 8 or 9 miles along the main road from the ferryport.. Photos of the site are on website.

We used Camping Domaine du Logis as a stopover site several years ago and it was a very good site. It’s not far from St Malo and access is very easy.

We stayed at Le Petit Bois near Dinard/St Malo (not sure if correct spelling) and liked it, but that was in 2012 and during ACSI season.

Camping Le Vieux Chatel at Combourg (see my review on here) - good road access and the pitches at the top of the site especially plenty big enough to accommodate your unit.

Camping de Mesqueau is a forty minute easy drive from Roscoff. Huge pitches. Maybe have a look on Google earth if you're worried about access.

Don't know if it suits, however, for years I had wanted to go to Camping De La Plage in La Trinité-sur-Mer, Brittany, to find the beach that could be accessed from the campsite to be off-limit to dogs in the warmer months, which is no good to me and my dog, such as shame.

Camping La Plage is a lovely site but I would check they have a pitch big enough to cope with a large set up as some of the pitches are tight even for a 6.5m van. It's also a longish journey to Roscoff as the roads are narrow in places with few dual carriageways.

We've been to both Camping Trologot and Camping Ar Klegeur many times, in fact we only got back from there last week. AR Kleuger was very full (and expensive) and some of the pitches are quite small. We stayed on Trologot this time, who have some very large pitches near the sanitary block (one had a large tag axle motorhome on it while we were there, with plenty of space.

Sorry, forgot to mention that this would be for on your way back before the ferry from St Malo.
