When we stayed at Port de Limeuil in 2021 we used their little hire car for a day, which was brilliant as it can be hard to park even a small moho in some of the popular spots in the Dordogne, and otherwise we are restricted to places my OH can go with his powered chair - he can't manage an ebike and we don't think scooters etc are the right solution for us. We do use public transport in cities but got caught out in Granville this year - no buses on Sunday !
We may go back to PdL for a few days next year but can anyone suggest other sites from the Dordogne down to the Toulouse area or east to Annecy that either have their own hire car or good links with a local hire firm? It would probably only be on one day within each 4-5 night stay on a partiuclar site.

You may need a French residential address to get one.
Several years ago we were friendly with a couple who's BMW suffered a gearbox fault. As they were on the site ( Dordogne area) for a long stay, the very nice site owner sorted the hire for them.(Leclerc). A little Fiat for not much a day.
They managed to get Red Pennant to pay. Before they left a Land Rover was brought out for them and poorly BMW taken home to their local, independent.
Main dealer in France diagnosed the fault but wanted to fit a new autobox for a lot of euros!
As it was an older car they declined. We heard after we got home that the local independent sorted it for a reasonable price.
