If you are a member of CAMC (Caravan Club), you can get a worthwhile members discount of 20% on Tyrepal purchases! PLUS some caravan insurers also offer a discount on your premium if you have a Tyrepal system!

A 2 wheel Tyrepal system (base unit plus 2 sensors) is around half the cost of Tyrons on a single axle van, or less than 1/3 the cost (base unit plus 4 sensors) on a twin axle van!

In France I think it is law that the same tyres need to be on the same axle and cannot mix brands. The way around this is to take the wheel only to the depot and request a new one is fitted. It also seems that in France the only tyre available is Michelin!
correct same tyres and treads on axle in France,
"Only tyre available is Michelin" wrong,so so wrong!!

How often would something like this be checked and who checks it?
Is it on the road, or a garage?
What's the outcome if they are not the same?
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Norauto franchise have a decent selection of tyres - including budget brands. My goto garage in France - they show the service price on the board behind the desk.
Always wondered if they are related to Dexel in the UK given the branding is very similar,

Hi all
With respect to my blow out on the peage there were 3 individual French operators involved - namely the Highways people, the breakdown recovery operator and the Tyre Franchise. In UK terms these were the equivalent of Highways Agency, Breakdown service and KwiK Fit / National Tyre Services for example.
None of them insisted or advised that I must have both tyres replaced. In the case of the French tyre replacement company, who would have gained the sale of an extra tyre (which we were expecting), if it had been French Law I would have expected them at least to insist. Fact is they didn't. Neither did either of the other agencies.
So it occurs to me that either the French agencies involved were negligent or the belief amongst some that same brand tyres and tread on same axles are cast in stone in French Law are incorrect.
I'll get the other tyre replaced once in UK and get Tyrepal fitted ( we are CMC members at least until 26/9 so qualify for the discount) so cheers Monty15 for the link.
Thanks for the advice all
------------- Best Regards
David

Probably rarely, but if you were involved in an accident I expect they would be checked and the consequences could vary from a category 4 fine (135 euros) to confiscation of the vehicle if it could be proven that it was a contributing factor.
