So I went to reception and asked to book pitch for an extra 3 days. There’s a festival in next town connected to DDay events, so site is booked and will not do ACSI rates. Have booked another night so can hopefully get dogs checked, but where to go next that isn’t miles away from Caen ferry? Have phoned couple of sites but it’s ansaphone.
Season has ended for a lot of sites in France by this time of year. Perhaps try the camp site search feature on this site?

If you want to be near Caen ferry port go to the little resort of Lion sur Mer which is only three miles awayfrom the port. There are three campsites there which are still open and listed on line - no need to phone or book just go there and ask. Of the three I suggest Camping La Ferme in rue Galante - owner is Mr Chevalier.

Totally agree with suggestion of Camping La Ferme, we used it this year as when we were booking, the site in Ranville we usually use was closed, although it opened up again later.
