In January we are travelling from Santander to Nerja. We are looking at camping Aranjuez for our first stop. We are towing so don’t want to go through the centre of Madrid is there a ring road. Looking at via Michelin it takes you straight through the middle. This is our first time. Going this way.
Thanks in advance
Les

Cant say I know it as never driven it, but good old Google Street View shows a motorway class road that 'flies' over the top of Madrid city and is picked as the caravan friendly route by route planners - think M6 Spaghetti Junction, you don't touch any of the 'messy stuff' below if you are going 'straight through'!
Don't see any ring road in the sense of a city bypass, looks like the straight over road is the bypass!
It's complicated with plenty of scope to erroneously take one of a myriad of exit slips, but the 'straight through' is just that.
I expect someone who has driven it/knows it will be along to advise, but from a position of relative ignorance, guided by what I see on Google Street View, I'd happily tow that route. I've ventured into the unknown many a time with a bit of insight from Steet View, and survived intact to tell the tale! - the caravaners best friend!

You have a choice of A30, A40 and A50 ring roads around the city. The outer ring (A50) is a long way round but may suit you best.

Thanks for that I never thought of that way.

We just drove the exact route yesterday (Friday afternoon) through Madrid and can honestly say it is something we will never do again! It was very stop start most of the way. Spanish drivers change lanes with no indication and we were terrified some one was going to clip the caravan. However we got through unscathed. On the way home we are going to go up the west side of Madrid to Tordesillas and then on to Burgos. On the other hand camping Aranjuez is a lovely site and we are going to stop there for a few days on the way home as the town looked very interesting as we drove through the next morning.

I think Fridays are very busy everywhere.
We’re going round on a Saturday hopefully it will be a lot quieter.
