I've just been doing some provisional research for a possible trip from the Channel Tunnel up throught Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany to Denmark next year.

The last time we did the trip was 2015, we had an Umwelte Plackette for Germany but nothing for the remaining European countries.

I've read that the Netherlands has localised schemes which apply different rules depending on your location, I've also read that the fines can be quite steep for non-compliance - €178!

We have an Umwelte Plackette and a Crit'Air sticker for our current moho but do we need anything like that for Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark? Do they have similar schemes?

I've got a feeling I may have asked this question a while back but if I did I've forgotten about it.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

You don’t need window stickers for Belgium, Netherlands or Denmark.

They all have restrictions for driving in their main cities- especially for diesel engine cars and motorhomes. They identify you by number plate recognition if you break those urban restrictions.. The restrictions are not all the same in each place so you need to do an internet search for Urban Access in each of three those countries and it will tell you what the restrictions are. .

Thanks for that response, who'd of thought it, individual European countries making their own laws!

A bit more planning and research required methinks.

You could visit the Toll Tickets website, not suggesting you buy from them but they are a useful source of information on what stickers can be purchased online, usually at a small fee, of course!

David

Thanks David, that's a good call, I'll take a look there.

We did an eight week tour of Holland, Germany and Denmark this summer and we never saw any clean air zones. Personally we avoid any towns and cities with charging zones as they are just money making schemes for local councils and nothing to do with clean air, one has only got to have a look at the number of planes in the sky at any given time and god knows the pollution coming from them!
