We've booked the ferry (ouch).

As we now have to sail Hull - Rotterdam, I'm wondering if there is a better option than Eguisheim as a stop over. We've stayed in Eguisheim for the last 6 yrs!

Are there any recommendations for say Germany or Austria.
Eguisheim is hard to beat because it's so beautiful, but the San Gotthard is a pain.

It's a long shot but those of you who know a route may impart some wisdom.
I realise this would mean approaching Garda from the Brenner Pass/Trentino etc

We did Garda a few years ago, going from Calais. We stopped at Montmedy municipal. Then through bottom of Luwembourg for cheap fuel. Stopped next night at Camping Illertissen. Next day the Fern Pass, along to Innsbruck, then Brenner pass and down to Lake Garda. Last day was a long tow, 300 miles.

Travelling via the Brenner pass (with caravan) we had stops at Arlon (Belgium/luxembourg border, then Ulm, and Natterersee (near Innsbruck) before going over the pass to Bardolino. Can't help with hotels - sorry.
