Hi all
Can anyone offer any advice on the requirements for Vignettes or Toll boxes and clean air zone stickers for the following countries;
Belgium , Holland, Germany , Austria, Slovenia and Italy.
We are doing a tour in our motorhome which is plated at 4500kgs. I already have the French Crit Air and Sanef toll tag for France and I am aware of paying the motorway toll for Switzerland at the border point, which we are also travelling through.
However , can I use the French Crit Air sticker for the other countries mentioned or do I need to apply for stickers separately , also can I get toll tags or vignettes for the countries mentioned in advance ?
Thanks.

Seperate EU countries have made their own laws (who'd have thought it).

Your Crit Air sticker is good for France and France only. In Germany you'll require an Umwelplakette. I bought mine on-line from the Berlin authorities for a mere €6, follow this link to the site

I'm trying to figure out what's required for Belgium and Denmark, the Netherlands have no national scheme but they do have local LEZ.

Hopefully, somebody else will be along with more gen.

Of your list only France and Germany require clean air emissions stickers, but as Mr Wez says there are inner city restrictions in many of the other countries.

There are no motorway tolls in Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. For Austria and Slovenia your motorhome at 4500 kg. is too heavy for the normal vignettes for lighter vehicles. You will instead need a GOBox for each of those two countries . The explanation of Go Boxes is on line.

For Switzerland you are also too heavy for a vignette and so you will pay a heavy vehicle charge at the frontier instead.

As a way of learning about the various tags/vignettes for different countries might I suggest you have a look at the TollTickets website which is pretty comprehensive. The fact the your motorhome is so heavy might make it more difficult because as mentioned most are set up for a max of 3500kgs and over that you get charged as a commercial vehicle.

Unbeknown to me, there was a toll in Belgium, the Liefkenshoektunnel near Antwerp when I travelled from France to the Netherlands via Belgium.

Drove up to the barrier and it did not rise (I had a tag for France only), felt like a real numpty.

However, a nice gentleman came to my rescue with a card machine and a smile and said no worries, he must have come across many uninitiated travellers like me!

Can't remember exactly how much it cost, however, it was not a lot.

The OP states they have a toll tag and a Crit Air sticker, so sorted in that respect.

For the countries you mentioned, each one has its own system for vignettes or toll stickers. The French Crit'Air sticker only works in France, so you will need to get separate stickers for the other countries.

https://www.green-zones.eu/en/seems to be a fairly comprehensive source of information on national and local schemes. You can input your vehicle’s data, and it will be able to give real time advice on where you are travelling.

Beware using 3rd party sites when applying for the relevant permits, you're far better off going directly to the authorities concerned:

Antwerp Ghent LEZ (registration is free)

German Umwelplakette (costs €6)

Austria has a toll vignette scheme for their autobahns the details can be found here but that site kinks out to a digital vignette here Austria also operates an Umwelt-Pickerl scheme for emission controls, I can't seem to find an official site for this but this could be a good starting point

Finally, the CAMC website provides some advice but links out to the Urban Access Regulations in Europe website which looks pretty useful and links out to the regulations by country.

EDIT: It would appear that for Austria, you can buy emission stickers (Abgasplakette), from the DEKRA website but the pack of 20 stickers costs €32.90 plus VAT and shipping which seems a lot but not compared to the whopping €2180 fine for non-compliance!

It's a minefield!
