We are planning our first trip to the vendee in august. Does any one know if any sections of the new A28 are open or is the best route still via Rouens and Le Mans with a stopover

hi there,

we have been discussing this road recently. if you check back 3 or 4 pages on this forum you should be able to find them. I would put a link in straight to them but i'm quite new here myself and haven't figured out all the technical bits yet!!

Just returned from doing this journey.  The new A28 isn't open yet - all tarmac laid but not furnishings or pay tolls in place. We did the Rouen le Mans route but didn't bother with a stopover -  took nine hours from Calais- easy shared driving - Left home at 4.30a.m. got a 7.00 a.m. train crossing and arrived at site at 5.30p.m.(reckon the new motorway will take a good 1.5hours off journey.)
