Hi

Camped at St Jean de Monts last year and Beg Meil the year before. We would like to return to the Vendee this year, any suggestions. Also do most of you pre book the campsite or just turn up?

Good morning and good night, I'm off to bed.

Many thanks.

Derek

I think that it depends when you want to go and if you are determined to pick a particular site.  I do know that some of the most popular sites in the region are fully booked for the period of the schools summer holidays.  I failed to make a booking for one for August in November of last year!

Hi Derek

I think if you want to be near the sea in a popular sort of camp - ie: the big ones with lots of entertainment & activites, and you are likely to clash with the French Holidays - !st August onwards - then yes you should probably book.  I've just made a booking with a site about 5 minutes from the sea near Le Tranch Sur Mer through a French camping website I found http://campsites.hpaguide.net.  I'm not booking any others, the ones we'll go to on the way down / up, just take my Michelin guide, and some numbers I've got from the website.
