Are me and B.Chrystie on our own in thinking..................... why not just stick to the speed limits??
Bryan
No !
Thank goodness thought I when I came across your post. And weI can never understand the logic of having speed limits, cameras, then letting everyone know where the cameras are.
ps Frequently when adhering to the speed limit I have had someone sitting right on my tail. My response to this is to go even slower - as if they happen to smack into my rear end I'd sooner it happened at about 20mph. I am sure they find it very annoying - tough luck. They shouldn't try to harass people by driving dangerously close.
I got lost this morning around Dunkerque. Whilst looking for Ferry signs, I got flashed in a 110 zone doing 120kph thinking I was still in the 130 zone. I will just have to wait and see if anything drops through the door. My own stupid fault as I should have been concentrating more. Whooops
Hi Degstroy,
Would you mind posting all future routes you will be taking in advance so that the rest of us can avoid 'bumping into you' so to speak? Apart from exceeding the speed limit when towing at 75mph you are in serious danger of being involved in an accident. Not good for you or us.

azusuk1, Who said I was towing, certainly not me?????? I would say that you should know the facts before making those sort of comments thank you very much. Yes I was speeding which was proved by the speed camera but certainly not on purpose.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Part of the reason I posted this way back in 2005 was to warn those of you who do like to 'get your foot down' in order to get to your holiday destinations a little faster. It wasn't meant to spark any attacks on individual driving habits. We're all guilty of speeding from time to time, and when on holiday, with screaming kids in the car and a long drive ahead, the temptation is there even more.
Please, stay safe (within the limits) but be aware that there are places you can check in advance where the cameras are.
Possibly & probably most people have exceeded the speed limit at least at one time or another, but please don't assume that we all do. Some people do not.
I personally would have thought that a sensible & responsible adult would find that having kids in the back was all the more reason to kill their speed (..."not the child") rather than providing more of a temptation.
This is not a personal attack on anyone either, merely my own feelings.
I wouldn't be so bold to say that I was 'assuming' anything other than normal human behaviour. If you've never exceeded the speed limit, not even once, maybe by a mile an hour, then you're to be congratulated. Well done, and happy motoring.

Pardon me but you did say "we are all guilty of speeding from time to time".
You are quite right in that I certainly have been guilty of speeding (& I admit being to silly enough when younger to think it didn't matter that much) accidentally on occasion.
However certainly don't think it's OK to do so deliberately & certainly not with passengers who are children. So maybe pay less attention to where the cameras are & more to the speedometer, & keeping within the limit would result in less accidents.
