Hi,

I have seen camping cheques mentioned on various questions,can any body tell me what they are as they seem to be used in france alot where we are going for the first time in august.

Camping Cheques are vouchers you buy at the rate of £9.95 each. Each one can be exchanged for one night on an accepting campsite for two people including 6 amp electricity. They are designed to be used in the low season up until the end of June and from the beginning of September onwards. A few accept them for a slightly longer period. I note you are going in August, unless its at the end of the month I suspect you won't find many sites accepting them at that time.

I think you need to widen you research. Have you not been to the Camping Cheque website? If not do a Google. Camping Cheques are designed to offer savings on standard campsite fees in the low season. An example we have stayed at a campsite in the South of France which in low season costs £16 a night if you turn up at the site. I can use my Camping Cheques which save me £6 a night. That is the purpose of them!

We always take a supply of camping cheques. Have been on sites that have been charging over £20 while we have only paid £9.95.
