Hi,it is a busy site seperated by the river Seine on both sides so you are on an island. You do get noise from the river, barges etc when they pass. It has a lot of holiday companies resident there. That said it is ideal for Paris. A 10 minute walk to the train station, 20 mins ish into Paris. We went in May about 4 yrs ago, after the storms they had and the site suffered from damaged trees, uprooted trees and other aftermath of the storms. Maison lafitte itself is a large suburb of Paris close to Versailles, you can drive there easily. We enjoyed it. a good tip is to get to the train station early because it took us a time to sus out which tickets we wanted.
We have been twice, the last time a couple of months ago. It is a nice site, got a small bar & pizza restaurant - ok but expensive. The town of Maison Laffite is about a ten minute walk, there are some lovely bars there. The station is in the middle of the town, 20 minutes to Paris, 45 minutes to Disneyland. I would recommend the site, we will be going again this year i hope. It is so handy for Paris, yet far enough out to be peaceful. Yes there is some train noise, but to wake up on the river bank and watch the barges going past as the sun rises is wonderful. Enjoy !!

The Hebdomadaire I think it's called is well worth getting if you intend to go into Paris several times as it gives you unlimited travel into the city on the Main Line as well as the Metro and the buses once you are in Paris. You buy them at the station but you will need a copy of your passport photo, these can be obtained from a copy machine at the station using your passport.
Hi - we got something called a carte orange - maybe same as the one you mentioned. You have to put your photo on it. Can use it on metro, trains etc. i think it was 16 euros each for 3 days. A bargain we thought
