Hi all we're off to the Loire,  but due to changes in times etc we are now having to look for a caravan site for an overnight stay about 50 to 100kms from Calais on the way down  towards  Rouen.

I  can only find a couple very near to Calais or Boulogne areas - which would be just a little to early for us to stop at. We will be arriving in Calais about 4pm.  Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

A  safe and happy hoilday adventure to you all. Warmest regards..Pete

Oozat - I don't think it's this website that's the problem, but the actual address.  It doesn't work from any PC I've tried it on, not just as a link through this site.

Hi Oozat...thanks for the sugested sites etc....Like Val has stated , I don't believe that this site bars anyone from posting web site links,  as I have  used many that other site users have posted to help campers and caravanners etc. So the problem may well be with the link itself........I will try them out as Val has done and thanks anyway......Regards .....Pete

Whilst I agree with Trooper Man's suggestion of Gandspette I think it would be a little out of your general direction. Le Bien Assise at Guines might be another option. As far as the non working web address is concerned I note that it suggests going to a similar site to UKCampsites. This does not seem to be allowed.

Gandspette is a good suggestion, just off the Autoroute (leave at junction 2, rejoin at junction 3 to continue South). This is a very well kept site, with swimming pool, excellent shower blocks, decent restuarant and take-away and breadvan each morning. There is also a supermarket just down the road.

Other possibilities would be 'Le Vivier aux Carpes' at Seraucourt-le-Grand (leave Autoroute at junction 11) and 'Camping au bord de l'Aisne' at Guignicourt (junction 14). Both are simple well maintained sites, near to villages with basic shops. Of the two, 'Le Vivier' has slightly better showers etc, but Guignicourt is easier to get to.

If none of these appeals, I am sure there is a decent site at Peronne. It is probably 20 years since we stayed there, but it is not too far off the Autoroute.

If you haven't already bought an atlas for your trip, I would strongly recomment the Michelin 1cm : 1 km. This shows all campsites listed in the Michelin guide, so when you feel you have driven far enough, you can simply look for the nearest campsite. The Michelin Camping Guide, or if you prefer, the Caravan Club Europe Guide, vol 1 will also prove invaluable in taking you straight to the nearest site, wherever you are.
