I must be silly,

Everyone here goes on about booking their ferries for £50 return etc...  I have just been looking....  can I find them????   can I hell.

Someone please tell me the secret, cheapest so far is £115 for 10-15day return to calis.

I booked mine with www.speedferries.com for £50 , but it was a while ago . I think the price goes up the fewer seats that are left ( like easyjet). I've heard that seafrance are doing cheaper crossings , but I've not looked into it .

You will probably have to pay more for a camper than a car; I expect the £50 deals were for cars. Speedferries have been advertising more "deals", and Seafrance are supposed to do a pricematch this summer. Try phoning them and saying you have been offered a crossing at some figure plucked from the air and see what they say!!

depends where you're going

if to france you've probably had it with low cost deals as this is the busiest week of the year.

best bet for cheap france deal now is likely to be travelling in the early hours, otherwise if you're going east, try transeuropa ferries (to ostend) who stil have an offer on

I booked with SeaFrance, £50 each way, the Sped Ferries thing geat if you can book 6-7 months in advance as they only hads limited sailings, but SeaFrance was great deal.  Usually P&O will match anything you find too, try the phone thing with them too!

Booked earlier this year with Speedferries (two for the price of one deal for a large vehicle.) Paid £66.00 for two return trips (June and Sept this year)
A large car is a vehicle within the following limitations: height 2,9 m, width 2,0 m and length 7,0 m carrying a maximum of 9 persons over the age of three.
I have a Talbot Rambler campervan and it fits on nicely!!

We booked our motorhome after the Wrexham meet for £50 return with Seafrance, speedferries won't touch us cos we are bigger than a normal van.  You do have to shop around with plenty of time to go, that's when the bargains appear.

Norfolk Line, www.norfolkline.com seem to still have some low fares around on the Dover to Dunkerque route if you are relatively flexible with the time of day. From the online booking screen you can click the different crossings available and the price changes - The yellow flag appears to indicate the cheaper crossings .

For a CAR, you can get August Fares just over £100 return and mid september fares of £50-80 return. From a quick check Ive just done, camper fares dont look much more if any than car fares.

Ive never travelled with them, nor do I know anyone who has so cant say what theyre like. Im planning to try them out in September.

Used Norfolk Line last year and found them very good. They are a no frills trucking ferry company so you dont get all the shops, restaurants etc like you do with P&O and others. There is a cafe and the grub is well cooked, plenty of it and cheap, just like the truckers want it. There is also a big bar with tv and a lounge with panoramic view window. There was also a little cinema but it wasnt showing anything when we were on. We got to Dover 3 hours early and were put on the next ferry out with no bother. I  would recommend them. I would be using them again but I got a good deal with Sea France this year.

We always book with Speedferries these days. They regularly have offers and ... I'm not really sure why ..... they manage to fill the car deck but have plenty of room for you to spread out in the lounges.

They can be pricier than £50 in the school holidays, but they've just closed a £50 offer for sailings after 5th Sepember. Shall I post here when they have offers? I think I did last time.

Liz
