Well our 3 week adventure has finally ended sob sob!! we have had a fantastic time in France and are very jealous of anyone yet to go!! First night in Loire at Chateau de Marais was great ideal for the A71 down big pitches great facilities etc and very quiet noise wise! Second stop was at Les Tours in St Aman de Cots in Aveyron. Fabulous fabulous site huge pitches over looking the lake fantasic swimming pool, river rapids and slides etc, pedalos wind surfing etc etc. The place is a bit isolated no supermarkets nearby only a small one in the village and it took us 5 hours to do 120 miles because of the twisty roads but the villages and the scenery is great. Love the area and will definately go back. Finally we moved to Camoing Europa near Annecy at St Joritz. Good site but small pitches and on a main road not on the lake either if you want a site on the lake you have to be at "Lac Blu" in Doussard or a small site in Talloires on the other side of the lake( sorry don't know the name). We hired bikes but will not go to france again without our own could have used them everywhere. On Monday we cyled right around Lake annecy and I thinl it was the highlight of our trip what a day! lunch at a reasurant on the lakeside. Anyway the only downside was the storm on Monday night it came out of nothing and rained hailstones like golf balls unfortunately we were away from the caravan and had left the roof vents with the sun blinds across.Result ruins sun blinds and a roof covered in dimple like dints on a 4 week old caravan! Rang the insurers as soons as we got back- looks like a new roof and the caravan out of action for a while, So they are not having it to mend before we have been on the rest of our summer weekends away! Anyway fabulous trip just ruined a bit by the storm damage to the van but hey ho c,est la vie!!

Hi Caroline

Sounds like you had a fantastic trip!

Sorry to hear about your van ........a similar thing happened to us when we were in the Blue Mountains near Sydney....a storm came from nowhere......one minute it was t-shirt and shorts weather, the next minute there was hail the size of golf balls! Our van wasn,t new,but our car was and we had only had it a week! The people next door to us drove their car underneath their awning, but we had a full annexe and couldn,t do that....by some miracle the car wasn,t damaged, but the van has got big dimples all over the roof!

We are going to France next year..........I envy you all being able to take your vans over to Europe! We plan to stay in static vans,so at least it will still seem like camping!

Cheers Mel
