last time we went from Portsmouth [with camper van] the organisation was abysmal and it took hours to get on - 20.00 or thereabouts to Bilbao - talking to people on board later some had been there since 16.00 and got on at 19.30, even motorbikes were taking over an hour!

suggest you feed kids before hand - even at home -

Well considering the ferry wont ARRIVE in Portsmouth until about 2145, and will then have to let passengers disenbark first, I dont see much point arriving before then unless you want to sit in the car lanes for hours on end, especially as they have to load the ferry with consideration to safety, not who arrives at the port first.

an hour before is ok but i like to be there about an hour and a half before departure,

depending on what you are driving will possably dictate when they load you its to do with the height i think.....we had a coachbuilt motorhome and always seemed to get put on behind lorries so we were on fairly quick good luck and enjoy it,

2 weeks before i set sail again going to using the same crossing as you but not booked yet doing it tomorrow looking for the best deal.

any one had any last minute bargains for car and van????????

cheers  andrew
