We are going this weekend for three weeks to Hourtin Plage Has anyone been to this area of France if so any tips or places to visit etc

we always go to this area-a few miles north of you at Montalivet-the Gironde is really about the beach & sea-the countryside is flat & wooded-theres a network of cycle tracks-so take your bikes-plenty of Equestrian centres if you want to ride a horse-big naturist campsites & naturist beaches at Montalivet & Euronat if you want that-worlds biggest sand dune nr Arcachon-Lacanu Ocean full of cool surfy types-cheaper to drive round via Bordeaux than take the ferry from Royan-----I'm gonna buy a house at Montalivet one day---

yep stayed there last year, nice site set in slightly shaded wooded area, nice pool very pleasent manager went out of his way for us when we arrived late at night.

only thing we thought it was a bit remote but the site is within walking distance of the beach loads of vinyards to visit there is also a few shops and restaurants in hortin plage , the site has a very good restaurant set on a sun terrace as well.

we didnt use the ferry went via bordeaux there is an intermarche on the road to the site just as you leave bordeaux so you can stock up
