Hello all

We have decided to launch off on our first venture into France in September to La Yole at St Jean de Monts.

If anybody has been there can you tell me exactly what is needed to hook up the electric cos I am a bit confused with the possibility of 2 pin plugs and reversed polarity etc.

Also, what happens with the camping cheque thing, do you just hand them over when you arrive, post them in advance or what?.

Thanks

La Yole was our first ever French campsite, but that was back in 1985, so I can't tell you much about how it is now. But we have been hooked on camping ever since, so it must have been pretty good. As for electrics, many sites accept the same plugs as UK sites, in which case you need only check for polarity, using a simple tester available from any camping accessory shop. Others need an adaptor, again easily obtainable in the UK. If polarity is reversed, you need only do a simple switch over of wires - but I'm sure the more technical members of the forum will spell this out more clearly. I wouldn't want to take responsibility for explaining it.

As for Camping Cheques, yes, you just turn up, and tell them when you book in that you wish to pay with Camping Cheques. Some sites will take them from you there and then, others will wait until you leave before you hand over the requisite number of Cheques. In September, there shouldn't be any need to book ahead.
