Have you looked at these sites? They seem to be able to arrange such trips.

Hi Shreko we came back last week from a touring holiday of France. We only got our Caravan in October last year.So our first time too. We booked our crossing with Seafrance ages ago on a good deal. Keep your eyes peeled for Norfolk line they were under a hundred pounds early in the year. We booked a Castels site called Chateau de Chanteloup in the Loire the day before we left on the internet for three nights and that was it. Stayed there longer. Took a campsite guidebook with us for some ideas. We moved onto another site which was a bit busy for our liking so only stayed a couple of nights. In all stayed at four sites which all had good clean facilities. One site we stayed at outside Paris we did not even find in guidebook and just saw and stopped. What a find will definately go back there. Only once came a little unstuck. Best to book night before you come home at Calais if you want to stay there.  We have three kids and this way worked well for us. French roads are brilliant to drive on and we had a fantastic break. Kids loved it and they are 14,12 and 7. Go for it. If you book a site in advance and pay up front and hate it what do you do?

If you don't want any hassle for your first few times I would recommend Alan Rogers Travel Service or Select Sites Reservations. You look in their brochures or on their websites, choose a site and they do the rest. Once you have your confidence you can book direct with the campsites- it is easier nowadays with emails. It is cheaper to do it direct but you have to juggle their availability with a ferry crossing . I usually get the dates of the site first( we have to arrange our holidays around football fixtures!! Family are Palace season ticket holders and daughter a cheerleader for club) and say to them that I will come back and confirm the dates when I have found a ferry, then I contact the ferry companies- you can do this online. Norfolkline was great this year. Then after that I book up overnight stops if needed. Another company that does it all for you is Eurocamp Independent and their sister no frills company Sites Abroad. If you prefer sitting with a brochure rather than surfing ask them for copies of their brochures. An advantage of using the Travel services is that they can also sort out the overnight stops.

Just book the ferry, come over and pick one of the 11'000 sites in France that range from the all-singing, all-dancing mega sites, to sites like ours that are small, friendly with good clean amenities and loads to see & do in the area?

The very first time we went to France was with a company that did it all for us. Never again. We found that we wanted a little more freedom & flexibility when seeing France. as someone's already said, if you don't like the site you're booked on for a fortnight, what can you do?

It's alot easier on this side of the Channel than you think.

We went with eurocamp independent when we went last, our experience was mixed to say the least ( one excellent site one dire). However we would use it again becuase our kids love the eurocamp kids clubs and it gives us a break too. If I didnt want the kids club I wouldnt book with them I dont think. We'd find a ferry deal we liked and search for sites on here and elsewhere online and book independently.

Do some googling, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised how easy it is. All good sites websites have different language versions ( mainly english/french) and easy to use booking forms and tarriffs displayed. The kids club is the only thing that tempts us to use eurocamp independent ( and it is VERY good- our kids have been in haven, french life and airtours and thomson clubs and none have been a patch on eurocamps)
