i'm going to be stopping overnight at Calais as you can now stop over on a 'daytrip' ticket with eurotunnel.

i've heard people mention camping cheques - can anyone tell me what they are, what they include ie how many people and where to get them please.

is it worth doing for a one night stopover? how many sites accept them?

I have just received the camping cheque site brochure which looks really great. As far as I can weigh up you pay £9.95 per cheque for a car caravan and 2 people including electric hook up. Each site has different times they allow payment in camping cheques but not many of them are after 10th July. Don't know what they charge for extra people but I imagine it will be at that particular sites normal rates.

Just came back from France using camping chaques. Terrific. The cheques cover a pitch, electricity car tent/caravan and 2 people for £9.95. You pay for any extra people and also any local taxes also extras like a 'super pitch' etc. Excellent value for money. The only down side is that you can only use them on campsites within the scheme and off season, but the number odf sites which will take them increases every year. The people in the office are very helpful and I will definitely et them for next year.

Yes, I've just found out about them. Will be using them on October at Berny Riviere. For the 3 of us and tent and car it's 1 cheque plus 5.50 euros( = 20.29 euros) per night. Their website says the rate is normally 27.50 euros. In our money that's £13.66 instead of  £18.50.

Liz
