We are contemplating either an early caravan holiday ( Feb/Mar/) or late (Oct/Nov) next year. Malaga area or within 50 mls. Anyone got experience/ can make recommendations re weather and suitable site?  We prefer small CL type of site but will consider anything.

We are watching the weather and temps there from now on.

There is a new one Near Almeria, near a little town called Tabernas - where all th spaghetti westerns were filmed, it is peaceful and truly rural surrounded by mountains and national parks, it is called Oro Verde, October and March are good times for inland southern Spain, nice and hot during the day, but cool enough to sleep at night

Thanks Patsy, I'll try to find details of that one.  I'd almost given up hope of a reply - should have known this site would come up trumps.

Hi Oxter

We have just come back from Spain. We took the caravan over Portsmouth - Bilbao. We did 4000 miles over 3 months. We first stayed at a very good site at Vinaross, abit pricey in Summer, but very cheap deals out of main season.  We left our caravan there in storage and headed down to Costa del Sol, 2 weeks in a Timeshare. We then headed back to Torrevieja, Costa Blanca for 6 weeks, were we have an apartment. While we were there we visited nearly all the campsites around for future reference. We then headed back to Vinaross for 2 weeks, all pitches have water and are a good size. Time to move again, we headed off to Haro, the wine region. Not a bad site, close to town, and very close to all the Bodegas.

If you need any advise, feel free to ask.

Have a GREAT time

Regards Cindy-E

It snowed in Haro when we were there in early March this year.  The facilities block was well heated so we didn't suffer too much!  You can easily walk into town from the site and there are lots of bodegas nearby.  We only stayed for 1 night, but would certainly like to return there - when hopefully it will be a bit warmer.

Hi Oxter

The price for June was 7 Euro a night, for stays of 8 days or more. If you went March /April should be ALOT cheaper. Natalie is the Manager, she runs a tight ship, VERY CLEAN SITE. There is a lot of English there for the winter. Some of the other sites around there were not very nice. The weather would OK, but cold at night. Not swimming weather, though.

If you want to go further south, there is a very good site at Torrevieja. This is a very good position wise one on the Punta Prima roundabout, the site is not bad, but, really good location. The other one good is called Floantilla (something like that) but a lot further out.

I did not like Almeria, very, very windy! Not good in winter.

If need any more help, just ask.

Regards

That's really very cheap Cindy.  Do you have details of the site at Vinaross please?  A website would be great.

Thanks
