Hi this is my first message on UK Camp Sites "HELLO"

We have being going to France with our kids for the past five summers now, starting off life with Eurocamp, then decided to take our TT. I have just traded in my TT  but have got a new conway fc  which we will take next year, can't wait.

We are now deciding where to go next summer. We started off in Normandy / Northern Brittany, then followed the coast down to through Brittany to the Vendee last year.

We are thinking of Le Chaponnet - Brem sur Mer. Has anyone been to this area ? / or site ?. My kids love the beach and sea so sandy beeches are a must. Is this area as busy as some other area of the Vendee? We went to St Jean De Monts last summer and spent most of the 2 weeks in a traffic Jam (August)

Many Thanks

Hi , we went to Bahamas beach at St Gilles this year. No traffic jams you can walk to the beach from the back gate  [15mins]. We hired bikes and cycled to St Gilles every morning to get our bagette and view the markets [3kilometers 10 mins] very safe cycle routes . Site could be noisy with the French teenagers, but we were young once, we might go back next year,  Alan [53]    ps if you dont like your pitch they will let you change it

markowl0,

Went to this area in 2004 in June. Not too busy and has a lovely time. Go for it if you don't like your site you can always "up sticks" and move on...

Many thanks

John

Thanks for your replies. You both have helped put my mind at ease, we loved the area and of course the beech / food / WINE / weather / (not in any particular order)just wanted to find somewhere a little less busy than St Jean de Monts

Thanks again

Mark

Hi,

have you considered Lre Ecureuils at Jard sur mer - we've been going there since my youngest was "the bump" - he was 11 yesterday! It's fairly quiet but has an outdoor and indoor pool , a fitness room ,reasonable shop , bar , games room and takeaway . What we like best is you can just cross the road to be  on a rocky beach - wonderful sunsets, can walk into town in 5 mins . the harbour is good for the teenagers to chill, and there are plenty of supermarkets for essentials. New within the last couple of years are the Indian Forest - think high ropes/assault course - within cycling distance , and the Velo rail at Commequiers - quite near Brem .

An excellent book though for reference in Angela Bird's " The Emglish guide to the Vendee" or something very similar in title

We're heading back in August next year  - once more saying it'll be the last time - but we'll see!.

We've been to Le Chaponnet a couple of times. It is a great site. Good facilties and toilet blocks. Easy walking distance to town and beach. It is also well placed for exploring other parts of The Vendee.

Thanks to everyone who has responded.

This is my first message on UKC, thankyou very much for your feedback on the area. However my wife has thrown a spanner in the works as she would prefer to go back to Brittany, around the Concarneau area.
