Hi Andrew

Dunkerque is fine for overnighting, as you exit the port there is a long straight with a very wide gravelly bit alongside. A lot of lorries use this when they come off the late night ferries as shall I in about two weeks time.

Calais is marginally better, here the best stop is in the Hoverport car park. The Hovercraft don't run after dark and the local Police drive around about every couple of hours just to make sure everybody's safe. We've stopped here many times without any incidents. If you are not sure where the Hoverport is just take the road out of Calais Port headed Motorways (Autoroutes) untill the first roundabout, right round and back the way you've come and the Hoverport is signposted. This is a nice quiet place to park up but be aware it gets busy again by first light.

Good Luck,

Dick

Don't forget Calais ferry port also - follow signs for "without tickets" and you come to a huge park with loads of caravans and campervans - good for overnight, has security patrols and good lighting. Also decent showers/washing facilities in the terminal

Hi as you come of the boat at Dunkerque just follow your nose go across the roundabout and you then hit a right hand bend, then turn in on the right and go to the far end of the lorry park and you will have a very quiet night. Allso go across with the Norfolk Line they are good and cheap when you book on line. Have fun

Hi Andrew,

we have just come back with Norfolkline. They are very good. We turned up hours early for our ferry and expected a long wait but they just put us on the next ferry in port. If you are touring through France Please stay at Camping De La Touche in the Loire valley near Loches. It is an excellent campsite with great facilities and a fantastic base for visiting the beautiful sights in the Loire Valley. Stuart & Jo (the owners) are lovely people and can't do enough for you. We can't wait to go back.

Enjoy your hols

Sue & Neil
