plymouth to santander is only 24 hour crossing, portsmouth to bilbao is 36 hours,

my experience on the portsmouth crossing was spoilt by the number of minicruisers who only paid a pittance to what we paid for my car & trailer & family. because they are only there for a return trip party.

not only is plymouth to santander a shorter time on board they don't seem to do minicruise offers

there is lot's of campsites in northern spain

Camping Sanguli on edge of Salou and Cambrils is an excellent site for children although it is quite expensive. There are 3 swimming pools in different areas of the site, organised entertainment for both adults and kids. An outdoor auditorium which has entertainment shows 6 nights a week. Added to that there is a cinema, shop, gym, tennis courts and crazy golf all on the site.

The entrance to the site is only 50 yards from the beach, although you have to cross the railway line and a main road. Railway line is barriered and road has pedestrian crossing.

There are plenty of bars , restaurants and shops within 200yards and Port Aventura is only 5km away.
