You'll find most sites in France cater for families, and tents!!! There are usually pitches to suit all, from the smallest tent (play tent size) to the largest twin axle. Sites in France are not like English sites, ie, with tents in one area, and vans in another - pitches are usually available for whoever arrives first. Get a Michelin Green Guide, and ask the French Tourist Information Office - or contact the local Syndicat d'Initiative in the area you fancy and they're sure to come up with something.
Alan Rogers guides, or the Camping Cheque brochure all list suitable sites. We can recomment Camping Neptune at Grau d'Agde, Camping Le Champs Blanc at Agde, Camping Le Boucanet at Grau du Roi, Le Rosarie at Argeles sur Mer. all of which are friendly, plenty of facilities, but not too big, and friendly with helpful owners, and lovely restaurants.
