We're thinking of going camping in France in the summer, preferably on east coast, and was wondering if anyone has any campsites to recommend or tips needed.
Thank you
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Check out the West coast - southern Brittany or Vendee. As a point of interest, it takes about 5 hours to drive down as far as trandhe oor Jard from caen - less from st Malo and up to 8 hours from Calais. Lots of good sites in all these areas just be a little more specific and we'll all give our opinions (just try and stop us)
La Rive at nr Biscarosse good big lively site on a great lake but 7ml from beach and not much in the immediate area. Lots of teenagers.
Palmyre Losirs - again big with lots of teenagers - a well suported bar with [when we were there] some of the worst 'entertainment' I have ever seen - almost worth going just for that. About 1 mile from small town and a few to the beach.
We did a site on the Isle d'Oleron which has great beaches but they were the other side of the island - Nice site but VERY french - we were only brit family - might not suit kids who don't want to try their french.
Camping La Pinede near Les Mathes - The hired mobile had a very colourful matress in the kids room - they were very reluctant to change it. Lots of brit teenagers generally being a pain - would not return.
Camping accapulco nr St Jean de Monts - big well run site within easy walk of small town and beach - area pretty charmless but loads of brit kids and decent beach.
As a family we prefer inland sites - especially on the river Dordogne.
