Just wondering if anybody has been to La Pachacaid in south of France. We're fly driving with Keycamp and staying in tent. Have been to the area before but not to this site and cant find a review on it.

Hi

We stayed at Pachacaid about 5 years ago,its a nice site, very hilly.the pools are excellent, they have a great climbing wall  set over a small pool.

Its quite a way from a supermarket, but a nice drive past quite a few bars/restaurants.pop over to Cavalaire beach its fantastic..enjoy

i'm going this year too. Last week of June until the 1st week of July. It's meant to be very good and I beleive they have built a new supermarket fairly close by.

oops better late than never in replying.........

No I haven't been down there before; in fact I haven't driven in france before. In the spirit of jumping in at the deep end we are driving to Paris on the first day and staying in a hotel near sacre coeur. Let's hope I can find it!!!

From there we are stopping off at Reims as I want to visit a champagne house and then staying the night at Dijon on the way down. I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks of good food and wine!!!

We have tented at La Pachacaid four times over the last twelve years with Eurocamp and the late lamented. Eurosites and been very happy there.  As stated above the pool complex and water slides (not free in high season) are excellent and the only (minor) drawback is that it’s a bit of a stiff climb back to your tent with the croissants in the morning!

Found it especially suitable if you have older children say age 12 to 16 as the site is fairly remote and even if they leave the site there’s nowhere for them to go.  There is an underground disco for them to use which you mostly cannot hear from outside (perhaps just a gentle vibration up through the bed legs!) although it can get a little noisy for a short while when this closes and the kids make their own way back to the accommodation.

Five minutes away in the village of La Mole there is an excellent, reasonably priced restaurant called the Relais D’Alsace.  If you wish to push the boat out almost immediately opposite is another restaurant - I cannot recall the name but it’s easy to find as it has a (disused) petrol pump in the front window!  At first sight, judging by the menu’s outside it seems a bit expensive but it has a terrific reputation amongst the locals with people travelling for some distance just to eat there.

Medium size supermarket (and more cheap restaurants) about 10 minutes drive away in Cogolin and a huge Geant hypermarche a further 10 minutes again, although this road can get very busy in the summer.

Look out for a large Irish guy called Eamonn who runs boat trips from Port Grimaud to St Tropez (DON’T bother trying to drive there) and sometimes further afield.  These are not especially cheap but include transport to and from the site. He provides unlimited free quantities of a highly alcoholic punch.  He has very good local knowledge and his commentaries are highly entertaining. although he is a bit of a wind up merchant. The boat is well maintained and safe.

Sorry this is a bit long winded but hope it is helpful.
