The Bus Station at St. Raphael is at the back of the Rail Station... And buses leave fairly regularly, which pass 'Prairies de la Mer' (about 25km.) on the main coast road... Once you get to Ste. Maxime, you've got about 10/15 mins. more on the bus...

How strange, I was on Biot Station (near Antibes) last year and someone asked the same question! Andy has told you everything you need to know about the buses. The bus stop is right outside the Prairies de la Mer reception.

And the name of the place is Port Grimaud, right? And, be careful, Grimaud is NOT Port Grimaud. Grimaud is at the top of a steep hill, while Port Grimaud is down the sea.
Re. the trip from St Rapahel: you may consider taking a boat, it's very scenic.

I'd wait until you've got rid of your luggage and stuff, before doing 'boat rides', besides it's a fair little 'trot' down to the port, from the station...

Talking of 'boat trips', if you fancy a trip to St. Tropez, it is easier to get a bus to Ste. Maxime marina, then get a boat over... Much nicer than a crowded bus in a traffic jam and quicker!...

so true AndyPandy! Do NOT use the road between Port Grimaud and St Tropez unless you know exactly what you're doing! I've seen outerspace jams on that road!

thankyou all for your helpful replies, didnt expect so many replies in a short time.

one problem solved maybe with the bus but another one now with the train.

we are unable to book the train from waterloo to st raphael only within 90 days of departure, they are not able to give us a price until nearer the time and its difficult to book the site incase we do not get a place on the train.

also not knowing the cost is a little off putting.

anyone else had these problems and solved them!!!!

             many thanks

I shouldn't worry about availability of places... I've never known the overnight trains to St. Raphael to be full... Why not find out the price now, then add 10% just to be on the safe side... An increase of anything less will then be 'a result'!...

Dont forget about things like 'Family card' or 'Young person' reductions... I don't know how many of these 'concessions' are still available (or what your party consists of), as I haven't travelled down by train in the last few years... Have a look around on the 'internet', you could make a nice saving!... Enjoy your holiday, it's a lovely part of the world...

sir antony is dead right ,the traffic along this road is bloody awful most of the day in the peak season,so the boat  sounds a good idea , we went to St Tropez by boat and beat the road traffic ,great holiday area though.

We have stayed at Port Grimaud about 5 times and would agree that the traffic is very heavy along the N98. You just need to choose your time well. Or be prepared to sit in a slowish queue of traffic.
