Hi do any 1 know of any other firm that gives you a cheaper deal traveling on eurotunnel?? We go in Aug,we are a family of four ,a caravan & two dogs(hence why we have to go eurotunnel) we are quite shocked at the price as its well over £300, more than our hoilday!! This is as some of you know our 1st time, we just didnt think it would be that much. My other half rang up a ferry company to ask if he could stay down with the dogs or at least check on them every 20mins but they said,no way! They are going to have tablets but the vet cant gaurantee they will still be sound, any replys would be great! Thanks Sandy

Sandy, do you know about the Tesco clubcard deals? We swapped our vouchers for clubcard deals tokens for use with Eurotunnel, You get 4 times the face value of money vouchers i.e. £2.50 = £10.00 clubcard deal. so if you are being quoted approx £300 you would need £75.00 of Tesco vouchers, hope this makes sense.

I didn't have enough vouchers of my own to cover our fare so I went round family and friends who had them, gave them the face value of vouchers and got enough tokens that way

Sandy

Are you a member of the Caravan Club? If so you can sometime get a good deal particularly if you are willing to travel very early. I don't think any ferry company would let you travel with your pets, although they might be willing to let you down to see them. Obviously a great H&S risk with passengers being on the car deck during ferry crossing.

Hi Sandy,

Sainsburys also offer deals with their Nectar points not sure if it covers the Tunnel though.

Another thought is to look at Select Sites. I've never used them but I've just got their brochure. Lots of campsites and it looks like they get discounts on channel crossings as well but I've not done a proper price comparison yet.

Good Luck

Jen

I think you will find Tesco vouchers are the way to go. Booked my first Eurotunnel trip with them - wife has to get a few off the mother in law but at least it saved us spending just under £300 on the crossing. Ok - maybe you can get Norfolk line ferry for half that but the easy of the channel tunnel and the speed I thing makes up for the cost.

Its just a shame you cannot book you camping sites with tesco vouchers or atleast not a travel agent

If you are willing to travel off peak on the chunnell you will pay up to £100 less than the price you have been quoted, if you go to thier online booking it gives the prices next to the times.

What about making a 1.5 hour tape recording of your voices and leave it running in the car?

I havn't been on Eurotunnel for about a year. I looked at their website, and they have changed the way they price their journeys. They now appear to have doubled!!!

Sandy,

I don't won't to make you feel any worse than you already do having had to pay an astronomical sum for your tunnel crossing. However to give you more info for future years, I would certainly suggest you get a qoute from the caraven club and try to book a bit earlier as that's when you stand a better chance of taking advantage of any offers going. This year, because we are taking the dog, we decided to use the tunnel. The crossing is 23/7 at 06.58 going out and 12/08 at 10.28 on our return. The total cost was £170 + £30 for the privilege of taking the dog!! not a bad price as it is cheaper than last year ferry.

Enjoy planning the rest of your holiday.

Steve
