Like me then -which means what you will have to do in Formule 1 or Etap is book 2 rooms . What we do is me and my daughter sleep in one and my husband sleeps in the other with the 2 boys. You could share the bed with your  1 year old and perhaps have the older one in the bunk above, your husband could share with the 3 year old. Look on their websites to see the bed arrangements- they are a double bed with a bed above. The bunk is quite high- my kids didnt want to go that high- which is why we have to share-also cos mine sleepwalk so wouldnt be safe.

Formule 1 is the cheapest but it means a trip down the corridor in the middle of the night for the toilet. Next price up is Etap with an ensuite. If you visit www.eurapart .com it will show you all the budget chains. You could also consider Fasthotel, Premiere Classe,Villages,B&B.

I believe Bonsai do connecting rooms but are not in every area.

Hi again- have done a bit of research in the ads between Desperate Housewives!

B& B chain in Le Mans for 2 rooms would cost 87 euros plus breakfasts 5.30for adults, 2.80 for children

Quick Palace- 70 E for 2 rooms, breakfasts 5 E each

Premiere Classe comes out tops- ( had to put in random night in August so this wont be accurate) 80E including breakfasts- but this is for 1 double and a triple room with 3 single beds( obviously you would have to split up the adults)- might be better for you than bunks. They seem to have a special baby rate- but they didnt seem to think baby would eat a breakfast!

It has been posted on here that kids under 18 months old don't count - or count as pets at BB. I think they will accept 5 in a room if the little one is a 'baby'.

EDIT - GOT IT

POsted by essexmum

TethersEnd, I have found this on the bb hotels website, after some searching:

52A6Bis>For my child, from what age is it compulsory to have its own bed ?

Up to 3 years old, your child can share your bed (or you can bring a crib*). Any child older than 3 years old will be counted as an adult and will therefore need to have a full bed booked.
* B&B does not provide any extra beds.

Which is good news as it means we can all get into one room this year at least without having to sneak people in LOL! I'm going to book a bb for the way back.

Cheers for all the top advice folks, keep it coming. I've found a site you probably all know about already called www.mappy.com which has pretty good directions for European driving, but more importantly lets you know what the toll charges are going to be for each part of the journey, great when you are on a tight budget.

Amanda

Try http://www.tuffiere.com halfwayish between Le Mans & Angers. We paid £70 for 2 adults & 3 kids last summer (July) inc evening meal - we were all in one huge room in the converted barn. It was wonderful and I'd highly recommend it.
