Has anyone tried the new LD Lines ferry from Portsmouth to Le Havre? We're thinking of using it but believe it wasn't too hot when it first started.
Any experiences appreciated.

We're using it from Le Havre to Portsmouth when we come to the UK in June for my lil sister's wedding. We've had campers here in the last 2 weeks that have used it and say that it's fine. It's a 'no-frills' type service, but good enough. It's still a very reasonable way to get across the western channel!
I would be very interested to hear about LD lines. What do you understand by 'No Frills'? Are the cabins OK? Is there access to decent food? Oh, and I just remembered, is there a duty free? - You can see where my priorities lie can't you? A 6 hour crossing through the night in discomfort will defeat the point of travelling overnight - allowing OH to sleep before the drive down to the Vendee. We're travelling with them in July, so I hope any wrinkles will have been ironed out.

The boat itself is one of the old P&O fleet, so there's no problems there. I believe that there are limited duty frees on board, as well as the cafe & cabins. I'll give you a full report when I get back from the UK in June!
Who ever you travel with......dont forget the ear plugs !.......... I am yet to find a cabin ...and I have used a few.......that does not have an irritating squeek in a bunk that is in tune with the thump of the engines......the expanding foam rubber ones are the best.........once rammed home...you dont hear a thing...sleep like a baby.

Any news Robbie? I am awaiting your report! Or can anyone else provide comments?
I am a bit paranoid of using new carriers, I have fears that the boat will have an engine failure or something and we won't even leave Portsmouth! (am I right in thnking LD only have the one ship?)
