No. That would imply that I could not even live here!
You have to be careful though and bring the removal tools, check every evening. I usually wear long trousers on holiday anyway, even when warm, which prevents them from jumping on me.
I did notice in the past in Scotland that corduroy trousers atracted them, or rather gave them excellent opprtunities to hold on an crawl further. Whe wearing corduroy I had three in three days. I left the corduroy for the remainder of that holiday and had none after. So now good tracking trousers.
Why the removal pliers: this way you remove them without causing them to 'vomit'. All other tricks like alcohol, petroleum etc, worked to remove them, but caused ticks to empty their stomach in the bite and exactly this is how the infection is passed on.
Removal by tick-pliers prevents this, hence prevents most of the infection risk.
Of course when you had one, watch the bite. If it vanishes slowly its OK, when it forms a red or white circle go to your home-MD or on the location of holiday. You will simply get some medicin. It's especially neglect that is the risk, as second and especially third stage of the illness are the bad stages.
The disease is spreading, i think in the UK already too. On the other hand they found people with anti-stuff in their blood, so apparently some resistance is being developed by some people, which is a good start.
