Has anyone any experience of converting the headlamps on a Renault Clio for driving on the other side of the road?

Yes thank you I realise that, but there is no marking on the headlamp to show where to stick it.

I think you will find that the kit will show you where to put the sticker!

I think you will find I have a kit but there are no markings on the headlight as illustrated on the packet as to where to put the converter (either triangles or spots).

Only trying to be helpful! Does the illustration not give you an idea where to place them on the lens? I have an X-Trail party owned by Renault and that does not have clear markings either, this might be something to do with the lens being plastic.

I have a Picasso with a clear lens but the diagram shows exactly where the mask should be placed using the centre of the bulb as a marker. Some lenses do have a very small pimple in the centre that is used as the marker.

A lot of modern cars don't have the markings on the lamp. When you buy the kit it will show where they go. My brother fitted them to his Clio Sport quite successfully.

Sorry wasnt intending to be rude, only realised after! The illustration is purely in relation to triangles or spots. Doesnt even show the location of the triangle or spot in relation to the rest of the headlight!

Thanks for this method. I may use this to check I have stuck the converters in the right place.

Who said I was a cheapskate? I have already bought the converters! I was however slightly resentful that they cost almost 1/3rd of the cost of the return ferry crossing! May use tape next time tho...

I'm a cheapskate (!) .......... and just use black insulation tape.  A roll costs peanuts.

There are very few markings on my headlamps ........... so I rang the Ford Helpdesk and they faxed me templates of what to block out, together with precise measurements - perhaps Renault offer the same service?

I cut out the templates and used those.  As it got to be a pain measuring up for my not infrequent trips to France, I used a permanent marker pen to show the outline.  Now and again, as it fades, I just go over it with the pen.

Now I can drive to the UK port at night and it takes 2 minutes whilst in the queue to infill with black tape.  When we get back to the French port, it takes 10 seconds to remove the tape.  Simple and cheap ..... but for me it works!

HTH

Hi Billy

Thanks for the tip. I have kept the chart from last years conversion kit to try it with tape as it p****s me off paying £8 for 2 bits of sticky back plastic each year. I will give your method a go.

I always use Billy's method to get the convertors in the right place - but with the clear plastic convertors that still let the light through, but diffuse it.     I wish I was in the business of selling these things at £8 a go - they must cost all of 50p to manufacture!
